Installation of our climbing wall has almost been completed at the new build at Mount St. Mary's R.C. College in Leeds.

The rest of the site is still under construction so it will be a while before the students get to use their new wall.

The crack, tufas and flake, together with the small overhang and abseil ledge ensure that the users will have many fun-filled sessions on their new climbing wall!

Blackburn Youth Zone

The installation of our climbing wall for Blackburn Youth Zone has been completed and it looks fantastic! The site is still in the construction phase so the wall is not open to the public just yet.

The wall is a combination of freeform, which boasts a vast choice of natural climbing features, and multifaceted plywood climbing surfaces, giving the user many different climbing styles to choose from.

Another feature of this wall is its Sentry Box, designed to accommodate a few users at a time including an instructor so that users can learn and practise their abseiling technique.

Blackburn Youth Zone is our 3rd climbing wall to be installed for the charity OnSide, a project set up to develop a network of youth centres across the North West.

Jubilee 2 health and wellbeing centre

The eagerly anticipated Jubilee 2 Health and Wellbeing Centre in Newcastle-Under-Lyme has now been opened!

This brand new facility boasts an impressive mosaic climbing wall spanning the full height of the building!

A sentry box for abseiling has been incorporated and can be climbed to or accessed via a door on the second floor.

Along with the climbing wall we have also designed and installed a bouldering room and traversing wall.

Look out for future gallery updates in the new year as the DR team will be going back to climb this fantastic wall.

Oldham Youth Zone

Our climbing wall at Oldham Youth Zone has been completed and it looks great!

It is a mixture of plywood panel and freeform climbing surface and boasts a variety of angles and features. The freeform section can be climbed with the aid of bolt on holds or using natural features alone which include a jamming crack, a large flake and a multitude of pockets and edges.

The wall also features a sentry box set into the side of the large overhang so that users can practise their abseiling technique.

The Oldham Youth Zone is a new build being developed by the charity OnSide, set up to develop a network of youth centres across the North West, and is due to open early next year.

Hothersall Lodge

Two of our design team went to Hothersall Lodge today to add our name plate to the finished wall signalling an end to our latest project.

Initial talks between DR climbing Walls and Lancashire County council started over 1 year ago. Since then the design process involving architects, staff from the activity centre, Warden Construction and our specialist design team developed an ambitious vision into a reality.

The staff at Hothersall Lodge were keen to ensure this climbing wall catered for all and worked closely with DR Climbing walls to develop a caving system that would provide an opportunity for wheelchair users to go caving!

Other features incorporated in or design include a 45° abseil ramp also suitable for wheelchair users, a large slab section and a full height lead/top roping wall.

Today was the Official Opening of Lancaster University Sports Centre who took great pleasure in inviting our chairman Don Robinson to the ceremony.

The building was officially opened by Sir Chris Bonington, renowned mountaineer and Chancellor of Lancaster University. He also undertook an exhibition climb on the climbing wall designed and built by DR International Climbing Walls.

Also participating in the opening were Jason Queally, Olympic Gold Medallist and alumnus of Lancaster University, and the Chief Executive of the Amateur Swimming Association, David Sparks.

The recently completed £20million Sports Centre offers state-of-the-art facilities for staff and students as well as schools and the local community.

Harpurhey Youth Zone

The Harpurhey Youth Zone, a project being developed by the charity OnSide, is coming along nicely over in Manchester.

Back in August we completed the installation of our climbing wall, which is part plywood and part freeform, at Harpurhey Youth Zone in Manchester. Whilst the rest of the project is being completed, our eye-catching wall is looking great in the new sports hall!

Oldham Youth Zone

Manufacture has now started on our climbing wall designed for Oldham Youth Zone, a new build being developed by the charity OnSide, set up to develop a network of youth centres across the North West.

This is our second wall designed for OnSide and is a mixture of plywood and fibreglass freeform. It has a variety of angles including a slab section, stepped overhang and a steep exciting overhang as well as a section of rock-like freeform wall.

This project is due to be installed in the first week of November.

A multifaceted climbing wall is now being installed at a new leisure centre in Newcastle under Lyme. The climbing wall incorporates 8 individual climbing lines and a small bouldering cave.

With a wide range of angles varying form slabs to overhangs this wall caters for all ages and abilities.

Our climbing wall at the Culture Fusion project in Bradford has been completed! Located in the Atrium at the entrance of the building, the wall is certain to attract attention with its striking bright orange colour!

Hothersall Lodge is nearing completion! A site visit this week was an opportunity to discuss finalities. Finishing touches to the ramp are being added and fossils are now in place in the cave. The heavily featured freeform walls look great! It's exciting times at Hothersall Lodge!

Training has finished for the use and safe climbing practice of the new climbing wall at Mid Cheshire College. Our freeform bouldering wall was installed in late May/early June earlier this year, making excellent use of a small courtyard.

Installation of our climbing wall at Oaklands School in Tower Hamlets, London is now finished. It is a great example of a climbing wall well suited for schools, suitable for both GCSE and NICAS qualifications.

The modern multifaceted design ensures students will be motivated to learn a new skill and continued to be challenged as their ability progresses.

The team here at DR wish Oaklands school and the community it serves a fun filled future using their new climbing wall!

Installation has started of our unique design for Manchester Harpurhay Youth Zone. The design consist of freeform, multifaceted and traditional climbing surfaces that will provide inspiring challenges for first time and established climbers using the new Youth Centre.

During this project we have worked closely with Tolent construction and newly formed charity, OnSide, to ensure the needs of the end user as well as the architect and main contractor are met.

The design team here at DR have been working with Lancaster county council and main contractor Warden Construction to produce a bespoke climbing wall design that is suitable for wheelchair users as well as experienced climbers.

Our design includes - An abseil ramp for wheelchair users, A large slabbed section suitable for disabled climbers, A full height vertical wall with various overhangs, A large cave complex split with various challenging features, Manufacture of the climbing wall is now complete and installation starts today.
